Clam Chowder Hot Dogs
I saw my friend The Vulgar Chef dip a hot dog in a cup of clam chowder and honestly it changed my life. I made these right after I saw it. Because I wanted to make this immediately, I used a can of clam chowder that I had in my pantry. It came out great, but it would also be good with homemade, takeout, or leftovers. Any kind of clam chowder! The key is that the clam chowder is super thick. You want it to be thick enough to stay on top of the dogs.
Cook the bacon and the hot dogs together
I cooked these dogs with the bacon so the bacon fat could coat them nicely. It also saved time and cleanup.
Make sure to griddle the buns!
Ideally you want New England Split Top Style buns. Cook the buns in a pan with some butter on all 4 sides! Yes, all 4 sides. Pop the hot dogs into the perfectly buttered and griddled rolls.
Top the hot dog with the clam chowder
Smother on the chowder! Really get it on there good. You need a lot so it stands out on the dogs.
Serve the clam chowder hot dogs
Top with chowder toppings like bacon, scallions, and oyster crackers. If you like other things on your chowder, you could put them on here too! What else do people put on chowder?
Excellent.
Hot Dogs and Clam Chowder – the match we never knew we needed in our lives.
Twists on clam chowder hot dogs
Of course you could make your own chowder for this. Just make sure its THICK! If you don’t like seafood, corn chowder would also be great on here!
