Pizza Guacamole
Guacamole flavored like pepperoni pizza, with sauteed peppers and onions, chopped pepperoni, chili flakes, and lots of parmesan cheese. I love this tasty twist on guac! The pepperoni and cheese add a nice salty bite to it, but the real pizza flavor is coming from the herbs, cooked onions, and chili flakes!
The Inspiration for this Recipe
I have actually been making this pizza guacamole for almost 10 years now, and put a version in one of my cookbooks. Somehow I realized this week that I never posted it on my website so I decided to fix that! I can’t remember why I thought of it in the first place all those years ago.
First cut the avocado
I always see people taking the pit out of the avocado in their hands. Don’t do that. I have personally driven a few people to the hospital who did it that way when I worked at a burrito shop.

Add the guacamole essentials
To me, if the avocados are good, the only things you need in guac is salt, acid, and garlic. The acid is usually lime juice, but for pizza guacamole I swapped it with red vinegar and pickled jalapeno juice.

Now add the unique pizza guacamole ingredients
cooked jalapeno and onion, fresh oregano, dried oregano, dried basil, chili flakes, 3 times the tomatoes I would normally use, pepperoni, and parmesan cheese. I think I should have used a bigger bowl haha.

Now just mash it all up good. I like to add the other ingredients before mashing so the flavors can get all incorporated into the avocado.

Add the pizza guacamole toppings
You could serve the pizza guacamole as-is, but what makes it special, especially for a party, is topping it like a pizza. line up the pepperoni, add some pickled jalapenos, then finish with more parmesan and some chili flakes.

Serve the pizza guac!
That’s it! Make a pile of chips and serve them with the guac. Tell your friends to dig in!

The flavors in this are soooo good! I was also making avocado toast with the leftovers all week!

The pickled jalapenos are my favorite part!

Pizza Guacamole
Ingredients
- 2 vine ripened tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup diced onion
- 1 jalapeno diced
- 4 ripe avocados
- 1 teaspoon red wine vinegar
- 2 tablespoons juice from jar of pickled jalapenos
- 3 cloves garlic grated
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes
- 2 ounces sliced pepperoni plus more for garnish
- 1 cup grated parmesan cheese plus more for garnish
- good quality olive oil
Instructions
- Season the cut tomatoes with about 1/4 teaspoon of the salt. Stir and let sit while you cook the onion and jalapeno.
- Heat a pan to high heat with some olive oil. Don't use the good one listed in the ingredients, use an every day one. Add in the diced onion and jalapeno and season with another 1/4 teaspoon of the salt. Cook about 7-10 minutes on high to char around the edges. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
- Peel and remove the seeds from the avocados and add them to a large bowl. Season with the rest of the salt, and add in the vinegar, jalapeno pickle juice, and garlic. Stir to coat to prevent browning.
- Add in all the rest of the ingredients except the olive oil. Strain the tomatoes and add them, and add the cooled cooked onion and jalapeno. Stir, then smash with a potato masher until chunky.
- Spread out into a shallow bowl and top with the extra pepperoni, some pickled jalapenos, more chili flake, and parmesan cheese. Drizzle on the nice olive oil. Serve with chips!
