Maple Cotton Candy Bacon Burger with Onion Rings

Recipe Sponsored by BUBBA Burger
Something that has been in my recipe notes for a while is โmake a burger with cotton candy on itโ. The problem is, just slapping cotton candy on a burger is not a fun recipe. I needed a whole theme. Well when I was looking at cotton candy online, I noticed there was a maple flavor. That was the only inspiration I needed to take this half idea into the amazing maple cotton candy bacon burger!
The inspiration for this recipe
I was inspired by a cowboy burger. You know the one. Topped with onion rings, bacon, and bbq sauce. I basically just made a perfect cowboy burger and put some of that tasty sweet maple cotton candy on top!ย It came out awesome and the bacon made the maple cotton candy an integral part of this burger and not just some gimmicky topping.
If you have been following along this summer, this is my 4th recipe with BUBBA Burger! It has been so much fun coming up with new and tasty burger ideas to feature BUBBA burgers all summer. Awesome brands like BUBBA are why I am able to continue blogging, and I am grateful to work with them! Head over to their product tracker and see where you can find them near you.
Make the onion rings
First slice the onions into rings. I wanted them to be nice and chunky for this recipe

The batter on these is flour, corn starch, beer, and vodka. The alcohol keeps them from forming too much gluten, so they are SUPER crispy.

Prep the Maple Cotton Candy Bacon Burger toppings
Make extra so you can snack, but donโt fill up on the onion rings and bacon. Trust me itโs worth it to save room for the incredible burger!

Cook the buger
Once the rings and bacon are cooked, get that burger on the pan or grill!

Assemble the Maple Cotton Candy Bacon Burger
First toast the buns of course. Mayo and BBQ sauce on the bottom, then the burger, muenster cheese, bacon, and onion rings. All on a brioche bun.

Then the cotton candy, and pop on the top bun! So good!

Twists on the Maple Cotton Candy Bacon Burger
I think this burger is just perfect as is. If you can’t find maple cotton candy online, maybe another flavor will be good? I have seen bacon flavor before. You could also use plain cotton candy and drizzle some maple onto the bacon.

Instructions
Onion rings
- *Onion ring recipe adapted from Serious Eats
- Put the onion rings into the buttermilk and season with salt and pepper. Allow to rest for 2 hours
- Preheat oil in a large cast iron pan to 350
- put 1/2 cup of flour in a bowl and season with salt
- Mix the rest of the flour with the cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, beer, and vodka.
- Remove one onion ring from the buttermilk and dip in the flour, then in the batter. Allow the excess batter to fall from the onion, then drop it into the oil. Cook for about 2 minutes, flipping once, to brown. Remove from the oil to a drying rack and repeat until you do all the onions.
Burgers
- As you are finishing the last of the rings, start cooking the bacon in a large frying pan. Remove the bacon onto the drying rack with the onion rings.
- Add the BUBBA Burgers to the pan with the bacon grease. Season with salt and pepper and cover and cook on medium heat until you see the juices pooling at the top of the burger, about 5-8 minutes.
- Flip the burgers and top with the cheese. Cook until the cheese is melted and the burger has reached your desired internal temperature.
- Put the bottom toasted buns down and top with some mayo and bbq sauce. Add the burgers next, then the bacon, then the onion rings. Finally add the cotton candy and top bun. Serve immediately!
