Jalapeno Peach Relish – JalaPeacho!

Peach Jalapeno Relish

Jalapeno and peach come together for the perfect sweet and spicy balance in this tangy relish! Have you ever made relish before? It’s actually pretty easy, comes together quick, and can last for 3 weeks in the fridge with no canning needed! Now that I know how easy it is, I think I will be experimenting with it more. Plus JalaPeacho is just fun to say.

The inspiration for this recipe

I have hot dogs on my mind! My friend Kyle and I are working on a Hot Dog Cookbook and it’s all I can think about! We did a big hot dog pop up this summer with a competition and some late night snacks and it was a great way to kick off our combined hot dog era. In the book there will be some condiment recipes so I was brainstorming an easy one I could develop for the book proposal. This time of the year I am all about peaches, so this peach jalapeno relish was a no brainer.

Make the relish cooking liquid

Vinegar, celery salt, salt, a sugar. Add it all to a pot and stir to combine.

vinegar and sugar

Add the veggies

Peach, jalapeno, shallot, and garlic. Add them to the vinegar mixture and put the pot on the stove. Bring to a light simmer and stir until the sugar melts, then keep cooking it for about 10 minutes.

add the jalapeno and peach

Before cooking vs. after cooking. It loses some of its brightness, but i still looks tasty! More like a traditional relish.

Serving the jalapeno peach relish

You could put this jalapeno peach relish on a lot of things but the obvious one is a hot dog! The sweet and spicy flavors were perfect on a dog with a little mustard.

Make sure you really load it on!

This would also be great on a burger, sausage, or chicken sandwich. Any backyard late summer treat! I might try it on ice cream if I am being honest.

Twists on jalapeno peach relish

I did this mixture about 3/4 jalapeno and 1/4 peach. You could make it half and half if you would rather but I wanted it to be a jalapeno relish with a little peach in the mix. I also added some celery salt to this, but dill or basil would be nice too.

Looking for something to put it on? I bt it would be great on this blackberry chicken sandwich, or this jalapeno roast beef sandwich!
