Jalapeno Popper Roast Beef Sandwich

Jalapeno Popper Roast Beef Sandwich

The flavors of a jalapeno popper lend themselves perfectly to a roast beef sandwich. Cream cheese and spicy pickled jalapenos match great with the savory roast beef and the crispy onion straws! I used store bought onion straws because I wanted the fried flavor you would get in a popper without having to actually fry anything.

The inspiration for this sandwich

I was craving a roast beef sandwich big time and I wanted it to be really spicy. I decided it would be a fun idea to incorporate the flavors of a jalapeno popper into a roast beef sandwich. I started with pickled jalapenos, then thought of using a cream cheese spread as the condiment. I stirred in some horseradish and chives which are classic players in the roast beef sandwich game, and then at the last minute I saw some leftover store bought onion straws I had used for a thanksgiving recipe and slapped them on top. It all come together in an amazing way!

Make the spread

I was first just going to use cream cheese on this jalapeno popper roast beef sandwich, but I decided to jazz up the cream cheese with a little horseradish and chives.

What are the best types of jalapenos to use?

I have made this sandwich with roasted jalapenos, pickled jalapenos, and candied jalapenos! I like pickled the best but I also think candied are great too. If you can find bread and butter pickled jalapenos, I think they are the absolute best to use on this sandwich because they are like a cross between pickled and candied!

Twists on this Jalapeno popper roast beef recipe

A lot of people will say ADD BACON. I don’t need bacon but you could use some if you want. Also I listed in the recipe, pickled or candied jalapenos, but if you can find bread and butter jalapenos, I think they are perfect.
