Hot Dog Pizza

Hot Dog Pizza

Hot dogs on a pizza?!? It might seem weird to you, but to me, it makes total sense! I mean, think about it, many pizzas are topped with some sort of sausage, so why are hot dogs different? You can top this with whatever you want, but I made mine with my favorite hot dog toppings- pickles, onions, and mustard!

The idea for this recipe

I’m lucky enough to live only 2 blocks from the best ballpark in the world, and I’ve been known to down a few Fenway Franks in my day. That’s why when Kayem offered to send me a bunch of the Fenway Franks to play around with, I happily obliged. A friend was visiting from out of town and they wanted to go straight to the street vendors near Fenway, but when they finally arrived we were already late for a pizza party! Good thing I brought a couple of the Fenway Frank hot dogs to pop onto a new pizza idea!

Spread the dough

I use a bunch of different pizza dough recipes when I make pizza. For this pizza I used this dough. It’s a fairly easy and straightforward recipe that works for me most of the time. Spread the dough out on a pizza peel or a baking sheet and get your oven nice and hot!

Add the sauce, cheese, and hot dogs and get it into the oven.

Topping the hot dog pizza

After it comes out of the oven is where the more interesting toppings come in. You don’t want to cook the onion, pickles, or mustard, so you put them on later. Step one is the pickles and onions.

Step two is the mustard!

This pizza was crazy good and if you like hot dogs, you should probably make it next time you are in the mood to make pizza.

Twists on a hot dog pizza

You should make this hot dog pizza with the things you like on hot dogs! Doing a full Chicago style dog would be awesome! Sauerkraut would be tasty, or even chili and nacho cheese!

  1. I don’t think I ever would have thought to put hot dogs on pizza, but people do cheeseburger pizza, so it makes sense. We’re always throwing Kayem franks on the grill for an easy dinner.

  2. If you have any hot dogs leftover, I suggest you try a peanut butter dog with some bacon. They are delicious!

  3. I’d like hotdog pizza! Hope the photoshoot/party went well last night!

  4. 5 stars
I love over-the-top hot dog recipes and have created about a hundred of them. This recipe is similar to one of my own but, different enough that I thought you might enjoy it.
I slice a hot dog into 14 or 15 slices and place in a bowl with a teaspoon of avocado oil, a shake of garlic powder, and some cumin. (this will help the dog brown.)
Then, lightly rub a soft taco tortilla with a bit of oil, give it a good smear of no-bean chili, layer on some sliced jalapeno and white onion and top with Mexican cheese blend. Arrange the dog slices around the top and drizzle with any leftover oil.
Bake at 400 degrees F for about ten minutes, or until the doggies brown and the bottom of the crust firms up.
    Slice and enjoy.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
