The inspiration for this recipe
You know how people describe olives as buttery? Well I thought, what if I dialed up that butter aspect to the next level but stuffing the olives with a spicy butter! I thought about what spicy thing I would add to the butter for this and went through the idea of gochujang, sriracha, and other hot sauces, until I settled on chili crisp. Then I added some honey for sweetness and a little garlic and oregano and the butter filling was ready to go into the olives!
Make the spicy butter filling
Start with softened butter, then add some salt, garlic powder, honey, chili crisp, and oregano. The oregano was a total last minute addition. I tasted the filling and it sort of had a pizza flavor so I thought the oregano would amplify that.

Mix it all together until it is nice and soft and fully combined.

Stuffing the spicy butter into the olives
Fill a piping bag with the spicy butter. If it feels too soft, put it into the fridge for a bit.

You also want the olives to be cold so the butter stays the right texture inside. One by one, stuff the olives with the spicy butter filling. Chili crisp has some chunks, so it might clog the piping tip once or twice during this process.

Serving the spicy butter stuffed olives
You can put these into the fridge until you are ready to eat them, but make sure you take them out at least a half hour before serving so the butter isnt fully solid inside. You want it to melt in your mouth! Serve them with toothpicks so people can grab them easily.

So much flavor! These are awesome and not too spicy. They have a slight pizza like flavor and the butter goes so well with the buttery olives!

Twists on spicy butter stuffed olives
You could stuff your olives with any sort of compound butter you want. I was originally inspired by cowboy butter for this idea but I went in a different direction.
The only other time I stuffed olives, I filled them with vodka!
