Orange Buttermilk Rum Cake with Olive Oil Gelato
I finally got the chance to make Ice Cream with liquid nitrogen last week, and it is something I have wanted to do for a long time. You guys know how much I love making ice cream, and liquid nitrogen makes it really quick and easy. I made an olive oil gelato, and served it with an orange buttermilk rum cake that my friend Bianca made.
Milk and cream is mixed together, and sugar and milk powder is whisked in. The olive oil goes in last.
Then you just pour in the liquid nitrogen. You should probably wear gloves and protective eyewear if you are doing this at home. Especially if it is your first time!
This is a really cool and fun trick for a party that makes everyone really excited for dessert. Any you know how much I love desserts with flair.
Ice Cream! You don’t need liquid nitrogen to make this recipe though, It will work in any ice cream maker.
You can see the cake recipe on Bianca’s website.
These flavors went so well together. The orange and olive oil really complement each other.
Make sure you add a little extra orange zest and olive oil to the top.
Remember to head over to Bianca’s website to see the other half of this recipe!
