Marjoram Honey Donuts

Marjoram Honey Donuts

I love making Italian style donuts with leftover pizza dough. Only problem is I usually make all my pizza dough into PIZZA. I finally had some leftover dough last week and I really wanted to do a floral glaze on the donuts. I stirred some fresh marjoram into a mixture of honey and sugar on the stovetop and cooked it until it became a sticky glaze that coated the fried dough perfectly.

Make small balls of dough and let them rise about a half hour before frying them.

When the come out of the fryer, toss them in the warm glaze.

Pile them up and top with peanuts and more marjoram.

I loved these donuts. Marjoram has such a great floral flavor that goes perfectly with honey. The glaze cooked enough that it hardened into almost a shell on the donuts and helped the extra marjoram and peanuts stick to the dough balls.
