Habanero Banana Crusted Ham

Habanero Banana Ham

This recipe is sponsored by Jones Dairy Farm

When Jones Dairy Farm sent me a beautiful semi boneless ham, I knew I had to do something not only special, but a little different than what people are used to with ham. I wanted to go spicy instead of the usual sweet glazes you find on ham, and my first thought was the pineapple jalapeno flavor I am so fond of. Pineapples are pretty common though with ham, so instead I went with pineapple jalapenos evil cousin, banana habanero. I made a hot sauce with the two ingredients that I actually make all the time, and just poured it over the ham. After baking, it had sealed on top of the ham like a perfect crust!

The sauce is as easy as just popping ingredients into the food processor.

This ham is amazing!

First pop a few holes into the top of the ham so the sauce can get all up in there.

Then pour the sauce over the top.

It’s thick enough to just stay there.

After baking it is crusted up really nice.

Then jsut start cutting!

I kind of hacked this thing up, but Jones Dairy Farm has a much better video of how to carve your ham the right way!

This meal was soooooo good. I just made some simple creamy mashed potatoes to give a little relief from the spicy ham. Also, the bottom of the ham didn’t really get much spice, so if you have some spice wimps in your family, there will be plenty for them to eat.

  • 20 Habaneros With Seeds
  • 2 Bananas
  • 2 Cloves Garlic
  • 1/2 Bunch Cilantro
  • 1 Small Onion
  • 1/2 Cup Red Vinegar

Instructions

  • Mix the above ingredients in a food processor. The sauce is VERY spicy. it is delicious as a hot sauce or salsa, but works great as a crust for this ham. If you want it less spicy, take out some of the seeds. Poke some holes in your ham and top with this sauce. Let it sit with the sauce on it in the fridge for a few hours. Bake at 250 for 1 hour. remove from oven and baste the ham with the juices and any chunks of salsa that has fallen off. Turn the oven up to 325 and cook 2 more hours until hot through
