Two Habanero Hot Sauces

Another great way to preserve my habaneros was to make these two delicious hot sauces. I’ve read that hot sauce is the next craft beer in terms of the market is exploding right now. This seems weird to me because beer is hard to make but hot sauce is super easy. What I’m trying to say here is make your own hot sauces people! It’s quick, easy, cheap, and delicious. Since making these last week, I’ve used them on everything from omelets to pasta to nachos to burgers.

For “The Devil’s Bog” hot sauce, I first lightly cooked some cranberries in beer with some brown sugar and garlic. Toss the whole thing into the food processor with the habaneros and call it a day.

“The Angry Drupe” was even easier. Just four ingredients in the food processor!
It’s really nice having these in the fridge ready to go for any spice related emergency.
Two Habanero Hot Sauces
Two unique and flavorful hot sauces. One is cranberry and beer based, and the other is mango.
Ingredients
Mango habanero sauce
- 2 Mangoes
- 15 Habaneros with seeds
- 3 Cloves Garlic
- 3/4 Cup Vinegar
- 1 teaspoon salt
Cranberry stout habanero hot sauce
- 12 Ounces Fresh Cranberries
- 1/2 Cup Stout Beer
- 3 Cloves Garlic
- 15 Habaneros half with seeds
- 1/4 Cup Brown Sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Stick it all into the food processor and let it rip.
- Mix all ingredients in a pot and bring to a simmer. Cook on low heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Process the mixture until smooth, adding a little more beer if its too thick.
How long would you guess these will keep?
The cranberry one is good for only a couple weeks, maybe 3. The mango one will last you a few months at least.
These look dank! Have you considered fermenting the sauce/peppers? I’d be interested to see how the cranberry one turns out fermented, although they look incredible and fresh the way they are.
The devils bog looks like something I would like to make for the daring ones on T’giving. When you say “half seeds”, do you mean remove half of the seeds or halve the peppers and remove all seeds? Also, do you think a regular old Budweiser would work in this? Thanks! I have a bunch of habaneros I need to use and have not worked with them much so any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
