Lucky Charms Burgers
Lucky charms on a burger is one thing, but when you add thick cut bacon and a whiskey cheddar sauce, you have something magically delicious! Juicy salty burgers on a sweet brioche bun pair so well with the sweet lucky charms. It’s something that needs to be tasted to be believed! One a burger like this that leans a little on the sweet side, the bacon is there to hold everything together and keep things firmly planted on the savory side.
The inspiration for this recipe
I have been obsessed with the idea of putting cereal on a burger recently but it took me a bit to actually figure out how I was going to do it. The thought of using lucky charms helped me figure out it would be a good burger recipe for St. Patrick’s Day. I topped the burgers with thick sliced bacon. I don’t always like bacon on my burger, but when you have sweet things on a burger bacon is super helpful to balance it out. Sticking with the St. Patrick’s theme, I made a whisky cheddar cream sauce that tasted like a savory version of Irish creme. I wasn’t sure how it would all come together, but in the end I absolutely loved this burger! The cheese sauce really brought everything together perfectly!
Make the whiskey cheddar sauce
Start with cream and cornstarch and cook it until it thickens up. I was inspired to put this sauce on the lucky charms burgers because I thought if we were using cereal it needed milk. Then I thought about an ice cream I like called “secret breakfast” that has corn flakes and whiskey.

Remove from heat and add the cheese. Stir until it comes together.

It will seem a little tight but after you add the whiskey it becomes the perfect consistency. An amazing sauce for the lucky charms burgers!

Build the lucky charms burgers
The patties are just simply medium sized beef patties with lots of salt and pepper. I am not always one for brioche but for this sweet/savory burger it was the right choice. Then add the bacon and smother on that whiskey cream sauce!

Then add on the lucky charms! I like to adjust the ratio slightly so there are a but more marshmallows than an average handful might have.

The cereal added a great crunch to the burger with a pop of sweetness.

Twists on the lucky charms burger
You could do this burger with just regular cheese if you wanted but the sauce gave a nice surface for the lucky charms to stick to. You could also omit the whisky if you don’t want any alcohol or are serving it to kids. Just add a little more milk or cream so the sauce is the right texture.
I love cooking with cereal. I made this lucky charms cheesecake a while back, and this awesome cheerio ice cream!

- 2 brioche buns
Instructions
- Stir the cornstarch into the cream and whisk until combined. Stir in a pinch of salt.
- Bring the cream to a simmer, you will see it thicken. Remove from heat.
- Stir in the cheese, there should be enough residual heat for the cheese to melt, but if not you can turn it to low, just be careful not to overheat or it will separate
- Finally stir in the whiskey.
- Cook the bacon until crispy.
- Split the beef into 2 patties the same roundness as the buns. Cook on high to brown on both sides and cook to desired doneness.
- Build the burgers starting with the bottom bun, then the burger, then the bacon, then top with the cheese sauce followed by the lucky charms. Top with the top bun and serve.

WTF?
How much luckg charms do I need for the recipe? Can I substitute the store bought one with marshmallows only packages bought off Amazon.
I did’t put an amount because I just added a handful to each burger. I guess about 1/4 to 1/3 of a cup on each burger. Yes you can use the marshmallows only, but it might push it over the edge into slightly too sweet.
Pretty weird but why not, haha !
