Shrimp and Steak Tacos

I was craving some tacos on Cinco de Mayo, but I ended up working late and by the time I got home I didn’t feel like cooking or doing anything really. I finally got my chance to have tacos over the weekend and the cravings were satisfied. I was going to call them surf and turf tacos, but ever since watching Skins (the UK version) surf and turf has a different meaning to me.

Cutting mangos is fun. This is for a salsa.

Skirt steak marinading.

Then it hits the grill. Yum!

I got these cool wire skewers recently. At first I thought they were kinda gimmicky, but after using them I like them a lot!

What’s surf and turf Eff?

A quick spicy slaw.

The mango salsa.

I threw the tortillas on the grill for a few seconds on each side to soften them up.

Very fresh tasting. Bright from the lime and vinegar.

Slaw was carrots and cabbage with sour cream, mayo, and sriracha.

Salsa was mango, red onion, habanero, bell pepper, cilantro, garlic, and lime

Skirt steak was marinaded in worcestershire, red wine vinegar, cumin, and coriander

Grill steak and shrimp, slice steak against the grain, mix shrimp with the steak so it absorbs some of the flavor.

  1. These look awesome! I thought about making mango salsa with my flautas last week but went with pico instead. I think a mango salsa will need to be made at some point this summer. I seriously wish I had a grill!
