    Notes

It’s coming to that time of the year where there is nothing I like more than being outside with some friends around a grill with a beer in hand and some music on. Because of this fact, there will be a lot of grilling recipes on the site. This particular idea I saw on a friends blog on Friday around 1pm and in no less than 26 hours it was being inhaled by my friends and I! And I DO mean inhaled. The 4 of us finished 16 mini burgers in only a few minutes. People might think that fried dough is too sweet for a burger, but the dough itself is not sweet at all! It’s the powdered sugar people put on that makes it sweet. I actually grew up eating my fried dough with tomato sauce and Parmesan cheese!

I just used store bought pizza dough for this experiment. Roll it out really thin and cut rounds

Meanwhile, have a friend make some burgers. They were supposed to be full sized at first, but we didn’t have anything to make larger dough rounds, so we decided to also cut down the burger size.

    Perfect fried dough.

A little salt right as they come out of the fryer is a good thing.

    Grilling the mini burgers.

John spread out the bottom buns and added a little tomato sauce to each.

Burgers and cheese go on next.

These burgers were so good! It’s a lot of fun to jsut stare at a tray of 16 burgers, knowing that they will soon be destroyed.

Crisp fried dough, juicy burger, savory sauce. We all agreed that these burgers were amazing.

I just bought a store bought pizza dough, rolled it out very thin, cut rounds with a cookie cutter, and fried at 350 for a minute or 2, flipping once, until browned on both sides. Form appropriately sided burgers (depending on how big your dough rounds are), grill, top with cheese, and build your burger with tomato sauce, tomato, and lettuce.
