I was trying to debate whether to do a riff on a meatball sandwich or a pulled pork sandwich, so instead of focusing on one of them I kind of just brought the flavors together in this spicy BBQ meatball sandwich. I guess it's balls week on TFIMB. It was unintentional but it happened. Make all the crude jokes you want you animals, this sandwich was delicious! I also have some fun 3d gifs in this post. I have always noticed that when my camera takes 2 pictures really quickly it sometimes looks 3d when I go back and forth between them. I wanted to make a conscious effort to start posting them! Let me know if you like 'em.
Just a quick and easy slaw
The meatballs were inspired by what I had around, as many of the dishes have been on here recently. I like to have a cheese, a bread, an herb, and garlic in the mix anytime I make meatballs. The habanero and feta actually went together really well.
While the meatballs browned up, I mixed a quick sauce of some leftover stuff I had.
Whoa 3d meatballs!
A quick toss in the sauce.
Then it all just gets piled on a fresh roll.
Very tasty, crunchy, sweet, salty, and delicious. Just the right mix of a meatball sandwich and some of the pulled pork flavors I was looking for, and a little bit of heat.
These meatballs consisted of a little less than a pound of ground pork, 3 habs (no seeds), a 1X2 inch cube of feta crumbled, 1/4 cup breadcrumbs, 1 grated clove of garlic, 1 teaspoon honey, 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro, and a big pinch each of salt and pepper. Broil them about 5 minutes a side to brown. Toss into a frying pan with 50/50 tomato sauce and BBQ sauce (both of mine happened to be homemade, chumps). Simmer about 5 minutes. Serve on a bulkie roll with a simple coleslaw.
