Habanana Margarita

Say goodbye to 2011 with this spicy-sweet cocktail. You guys know how much I love the banana-habanero combo, and it just begged to be in a margarita. This drink really is awesome. The banana puree makes it slightly thick, and the habanero simple syrup not only gives it a kick, but adds a unique tropical flavor. The byproduct of candied habanero adds a nice touch in the sugar on the rim.

Perfect red habaneros.

Boiling away in a mixture of 1 cup of sugar and 3/4 cup of water. Remove the habs and save the syrup to mix into the drinks.

Put the habanero right into sugar from the boiling syrup and you end up with nice chewy candied habanero.

Pop the whole thing into a food processor and it works great for the rim of the glass.

Bananas in the blender with lime juice.

Mix the syrup, banana puree, and some tequilla in a cocktail shaker.

So tasty! Have a few of these tomorrow and call it a year.

You can see the red flecks in the sugar, but just barely!  They add the perfect spicy undertone without overpowering the whole thing.

Have a great New Years everyone! See you next year.

I like the looks of these and can practically taste the goodness. Happy New Year 2012! (in 2 days)

How long do you boil the habaneros in the syrup mixture?
