Banana Spring Roll

As you know, I'm not a big dessert guy. Don't often make them, and don't often eat them. I do like them on occasion though, and this was easily one of the best desserts I have ever had. And crazy quick to make!  We made these after the curry from yesterday and they were an all around success. Oh except for the 2 guys that didn't like bananas. Whoops! Oh well more for me.

We didn't want to fuss with making a chocolate sauce after cooking curry for everyone, so we just used Nutella. It went perfectly with the fried bananas.

Use spring roll wrappers, or rice paper, but do NOT use egg roll wrappers. We used rice paper cause I couldn't find spring roll wrappers. Even though this says spring roll right on the box, it isn't what I think of for normal spring rolls. It is in fact rice paper.

Normally you put rice paper into water before using. For this application, add some sugar to the water. if you are using the spring roll wrappers, omit this step all together.

These are small bananas. You might need to cut yours in half.  They were the last of the bunch from our backyard.

Couple minutes until they are crispy.

Sprinkle with powdered sugar and cinnamon right as they come out of the fryer.

This is my poor attempt half drunk at midnight of trying to make it look pretty.

Serve with ice cream!

I've been talking to my coworkers about making banana dumplings and they look like i'm crazy-chopped banana and choc chips in a nice dumpling wrapper also with cinnamon sugar... so now i guess two of us are crazy?

I've been thinking about making something like this with funnel cake batter for a few weeks with raspberry sauce and powdered sugar. Great concept with the spring roll wraps.

This is one of my favorite desserts as we have a Filipino version called 'Turon'. Very sticky and just delicious. And i think nutella would go really quite well with them too...or ice cream of course hehehe : )

This dessert reminds me of my mum : )

You forgot the bacon.

holy crap.. I'm making these. and you're drunken attempt at "pretty," a success. looks super yummmmm!

I think I love you.

The thing that drives me nuts right now is that I have bananas and rice paper wraps, but NO Nutella OR icecream. I could soooo go for this right noe!
