Last night was a great episode of Last Restaurant Standing. With only 4 couples remaining, this elimination challenge was very
serious. Raymond wanted the 2 couples in the challenge to have a singles
night at their restaurants. He would provide 20 single young
professionals and they had to find the other 20 themselves. They split up and
the twins ended up with Lloyd and Adowa while Jeremy
and Jane were chosen by Grant and Laura.
The 2 teams got right to brainstorming. Lloyd and Adowa
decided to go with a jungle love theme with a lot of leopard skin and exotic
decor. On the other hand, Grant and Laura decided to have a classier
setup with white tablecloths. At first I thought that the jungle theme would do
better because too classy and formal isn't always a good idea for first
dates. However, when Lloyd started talking nonsense on the microphone and
decided they were going to set up a "love shack jungle room", I started to
think they were out.
The teams went out to recruit more people to compliment Raymond's
original 20. Grant and Laura were doing
an excellent job finding young professionals so that all the people would be the
same type of person. They were also
taking 5 pounds from people up to be sure they would show up. Lloyd and Adowa
were having a bit more trouble getting people.
They were getting desperate and really just asking anyone who would
come. The next day, many of their
potential customers were canceling on them and had even given out wrong
numbers!! Grant and Laura didn't have
this problem since they asked for the money up front.
During the dinner service things seemed to go very well on
both sides. Laura had a raffle and gave
away some good prizes as their diners got the appetizer: a plate of fish to
share. They were really proud of this
dish because they thought it would get the people talking and open lines of discussion. Laura had been studying all of the people's
information calculating some of the best matches. At Lloyd and Adowa's,
the twins had everyone playing these contact games like pass the orange. Lloyd was picking random names and bringing
people to the love shack and shutting the door.
This moment surpassed the awkwardness of Laura's singing last
week!! Congrats Lloyd!
At the judging, Raymond says both teams did really good in
their own different ways. He disagrees
with Grant that the seafood dish was a good way to start conversations and
actually said it had no place on the table.
All around, their food was not very appropriate to the night serving
heavy steaks and mash at a mixer. However,
they were excellent hosts, the people had fun, and a few people even made
connections. Raymond then tells Lloyd he
is a bad manager. He tells Adowa that the 7 course tasting menu was excellent and possibly
the best food they have made since the beginning. Unfortunately he cannot work with them
because they do good one week and bad the next.
That is why he is shutting their restaurant down. We then see Lloyd and Adowa
speaking to the camera. Lloyd says: "Lloyd
and Adowa WILL be opening a restaurant very soon"
I am very excited to see how the format of the show will
change next week! With only 3 couples
remaining, something has to change, yet there was no "next time on..." so I have
no idea what it will be! If you are new
to the site and reading a review for the first time here, please check out my
interview from a few weeks back with the last couple who was kicked off, Martin
and Emma!
