Last Restaurant Standing - Review

Last restaurant standing is consistently getting better each episode and this one did not disappoint. Last nights theme was selling your product. Different from marketing outside the restaurant like 2 weeks ago, this is marketing inside. Raymond has a secret ingredient he sends all the restaurants that the need to up sell over the weekend.

The ingredient turns out to be eel and some of the couples are pretty annoyed. We first check in with the disaster known as Martin and Emma. Martin pretty much says no thanks and decides not to use them. He doesn't want to kill a living creature. Emma is fake gagging all around the kitchen. They are saved when the sous chef refuses to let the beautiful eel go to waste and makes a classic Spanish dish out of them. Unfortunately, Emma's sales pitch to the customers goes something like "yea, they were alive earlier, it was disgusting, live eels squirmin all about the restaurant *GAG* *COUGH* I mean you can try em if ya like but I wouldn't." Good job Emma, seriously, just as the name of your restaurant says, bravo, bravo. Later at judging Raymond lays into Martin for saying he does not want to kill a live creature. "But you are a chef, no? Why don't you then cook vegetarian meals?" He also mentions how 90% of chickens are inhumanely treated and killed yet Martin still cooks with them. He made Martin look pathetic and he then had nothing to say. Welcome to the challenge.

Ed and mike, the brothers who run "trickle well" have a horrid week. Not many people show up, people don't get their food, it tastes awful, tables are comped etc. etc. they also lie and tell different stories to the judge when she shows up. They are in the challenge.

Lloyd and Adwoa have the same trouble they often have, great food with a poor front of house. They are doing well with their eel dish labeling it as "Ghana on a plate" but that doesn't help the staff. One waitress is bad but Lloyd won't fire her even after Adwoa asks. She finally comes out of the back and fires the girl herself. Lloyd then un-fires her and puts her back to work. This of course is an issue to Raymond because even though people like the food, the front and back of the house need to work together. This combined with their negative figures sends them to the challenge.

Laura and Grant were nonexistent this episode. They did mediocre making the eel into a traditional Scottish stew. They are safe from the challenge.

Jeremy and Jane were also skeptical about the eels. Because of this, Jeremy only prepped about 15 of them because he didn't expect them to sell. This caused him to run around later when they were actually selling pretty well. When the judge came, we find out that he never even tasted the eel he was putting out. This angered Raymond and he yelled at Jeremy a bit saying tasting the dish is something even the lowliest cook would do and he can't work with someone who sends something out untasted. They are safe because of the fact that they made more money then any other couple.

The twins did great this week at "brown and green" they decided to give a prize to the waitress who sold the most eel. They looked like they were having a lot of fun this week and celebrating every eel dish sold. Raymond congratulated them for treating the staff like a team rather then subordinates, and for that reason, they were the winners of best restaurant of the week.

Next week the challenge is coming and I really can't wait to get rid of some of these people. Martin and Emma are so ridiculously awful I still can't believe they are around. Also the brothers are annoying and have no idea what they are doing. Either way though, I am happy about this show and excited to see what happens. I was worried for a few weeks that I would lose interest but it just keeps getting better.
