The second episode of last restaurant standing was on last night. The show is pretty good for the same reasons most reality shows are; a few people that are really good at what they are doing, and a bunch of other wackos. One thing I like about this new show is that no one was kicked off this episode. This is not standard reality show activity, but I guess with only 8 (I think) couples left they wanted to get more episodes out of it. This is fine with me because so far there has been little to no filler. I guess the format is going to be one episode with restaurant service where no one gets kicked off, then one episode where the bottom 3 have a challenge to see who is out. The reason I say 8 couples with a question mark is I am not really sure how many are there. I was trying to keep track and write down names but a few people they never really showed and I saw them at the judging wondering who they were. Anyways, here is the rundown: The Good
Jeremy and Jane – Blonde girl front of the house, buzz cut dude is the chef. They won the first episode and are nervous for today’s service. Jane cried twice in this episode (do I hear drinking game??) Ed and mike – Brothers. They did a good job but apparently don’t know how to enjoy it because they were told to smile more. They had almost no screen time Jack Thompsons?? I’m not sure if this is a restaurant name or a persons name but they got literally no screen time.
Spinach and Aguchi – this is the restaurant name, I can’t remember the couples name. This is a black couple focused on Garganon???? cuisine. I kind of like them because their restaurant has a focus. They did really badly the first week but this week pulled it together. Jess and Laura – Blond twins. Possibly my pick for winning the whole thing. They won the competition this week which was to up sell desserts and cocktails to try and actually earn money. Out of 76 customers, 73 had one of their specialty drinks. Another reason I like them is their restaurant also has a focus. “Brown and Green” is a whole foods and organic restaurant. The Bad – These were the bottom 3 teams. They will be in the challenge next week. Martin and Emma – Restaurant name “Bravo” I hate them and I hope they go. Haha I guess there isn’t much more to say. Emma is the worst. She was throwing together these awful cocktails for the competition filled with grenadine and paper umbrellas. Martin the chef did not even make an effort to make desserts which was the main point of the night. Tom and Nicola – This is a mother and son combo. The mom is in the back while the son runs the front. The mother is a good home cook but has never worked in a restaurant. This fact really hurt her and she ended up letting the sous chef run the place for half the night. The inspector did not like this at all. Jackie and Sam – This is the hilariously awful couple of the show. Sam is the “chef” and Jackie runs the front of the house. The want to have the restaurant so Sam can fulfill his dream of playing jazz in his own place. Unfortunately this isn’t really what the show is about and he needs to focus on cooking. Sam reminds me of a less exaggerated, British version of Charlie from “its always sunny in Philadelphia.” The couple was having money issues and yelling back and forth. The sous chef was doing all the work in the back. One funny line was Sam asking the guy why there weren’t any breadcrumbs in the burgers. He responded with “…uh… I thought you told me to make them nice?” Sam had basically changed his mind and realized he needed to stretch a buck as far as he could. When an inspector came in during service, Jackie told her it was going great and there were no issues, meanwhile there was no food on any of the tables and customers were being told they needed to wait before ordering. After the sous chef did all the work of the whole night, Sam stoneface fired him then went to play some jazz drums alone in the restaurant. Later on the inspector said the burger and apple pie was terrible. Really?? You messed up a burger and apple pie?? Reallllly? I’m Excited to keep watching this show as we weed out some of the bad. I hope Jackie and Sam stick around though for a few more episodes so I can laugh at them more. I will be reviewing this every Wednesday morning so stay tuned! I might even become a better reviewer.
